Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 6, 2026
VolleyIQ ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website myvolleyiq.com and related applications. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our Service. By using VolleyIQ, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: Name, email address, password, and role (coach, player, club director, or college coach).
- Player profile data: Position, height, graduation year, school name, club name, jersey number.
- Academic information: GPA, test scores (SAT/ACT), intended major.
- Athletic statistics: Match-level performance data including kills, assists, aces, digs, blocks, serving stats, and other volleyball metrics — both coach-verified and self-reported.
- Media: Profile photos, highlight video URLs (links to external platforms such as YouTube or Hudl).
- Social media handles: Optional links to Instagram, Twitter/X, or other social profiles.
- Payment information: Billing details processed securely through Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device and browser information: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution.
- IP address: Used for security, analytics, and approximate geographic location.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, time spent, and interaction patterns.
- Profile view tracking: When a player profile is viewed, we record the view count and referring source to provide analytics to the player.
- Support diagnostics: When you submit a support ticket, we automatically capture your browser's user agent, the page you came from, and the device type you select, so we can reproduce the problem you are reporting. Support conversations are retained with your account.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the Service: Display your profile, sync statistics, enable team management, and facilitate recruiting connections.
- Analytics and insights: Generate team dashboards, rotation analytics, performance trends, and profile view statistics.
- Communication: Send account-related emails (confirmation, password reset, billing), feature announcements, and optional recruiting notifications. You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time.
- Security: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- AI-generated insights: Generate match coaching overviews and player development plans from recorded statistics, using the AI provider described in Section 8. These features run on your team's and players' performance data; they are not used to train the provider's models under our agreement with them.
- Support: When you ask for help, our support staff may review your account's teams, rosters, settings, and activity to troubleshoot the problem you reported.
- Improvement: Analyze usage patterns to improve features and user experience.
3. What We Share
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Public player profiles: If a player chooses to create a public profile, the information they add to that profile (name, stats, school, position, grad year, height, photos, highlight videos) is accessible via their unique profile URL. Players control what appears on their profile.
- Team members: Coaches and club directors can view the stats and roster information of players on their teams.
- Public team hub pages: A team may publish a public hub page showing live scores, match results, and team statistics. By default these pages mask player names (for example, first name and last initial), masking is applied on our servers before the page is sent, hub pages carry the same search-engine blocking as player profiles, and a team may additionally require a password to view its hub. Full names appear only if the team explicitly enables them.
- MaxPreps export (coach-directed): Coaches may export their team's match statistics to MaxPreps (a CBS Sports service) using our stat import partnership. This transfer happens only when a coach initiates it, contains athletic statistics and jersey numbers of the type shown in a box score, and is governed by MaxPreps' own privacy policy once received.
- Service providers: We share data with third-party services that help us operate VolleyIQ (see Section 8).
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
4. Contact Information Protection
Player contact information — including email addresses and phone numbers — is never displayed on public profiles. Contact details are only visible to the account holder and are used solely for account management and direct communication from VolleyIQ.
5. Search Engine Indexing
Player profiles are blocked from search engine indexing. We serve noindex, nofollow directives on all player profile pages and instruct search engine crawlers not to index these pages via our robots.txt file. Player profiles are accessible only via their direct URL.
6. Data of Minors
Age Requirement
Users must be at least 13 years of age to access the full VolleyIQ platform, including recruiting features and paid subscriptions. We encourage parents or guardians of users between 13 and 17 to review and discuss this Privacy Policy with their child.
Users Under 13 (COPPA Compliance)
VolleyIQ complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Children under 13 may create a limited free account restricted to viewing coach-entered stats only. Under-13 accounts may not subscribe to a paid plan, maintain a public recruiting profile, or access recruiting features. The only personal information collected for under-13 accounts is a name and email address required for account authentication.
No additional personal data (height, academics, photos, social media, etc.) is collected or displayed for under-13 users. Their statistical data is entered solely by their coach through the team stat-tracking system and is only visible within the team context.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 beyond what is described above, we will delete that information promptly. Parents or guardians may request deletion of their child's account and data at any time by contacting support@myvolleyiq.com.
Parent Accounts
A parent or guardian may create a parent account, link it to their child's account or roster entry, and view their child's statistics and analytics. Parents may also record statistics for their child (for example, at a tournament no coach is scoring) and import historical statistics. Parent-recorded statistics are labeled separately from coach-verified statistics wherever they appear.
Club-Provided Player Accounts
A club director may purchase full player recruiting accounts and assign them to players on the club's teams. Assignment creates the same account a player could purchase individually, subject to the same age requirements above; for players under 18 we encourage clubs to obtain parental consent before assigning a seat, and a parent or guardian may decline or request removal of an assigned account at any time by contacting support@myvolleyiq.com.
7. Cookies and Local Storage
VolleyIQ uses cookies and browser local storage for the following purposes:
- Authentication tokens: Secure session cookies to keep you logged in.
- Dashboard preferences: Saved locally to remember your layout, filter, and display settings.
- Offline stat storage: Match statistics entered offline are stored in your browser's local storage and synced to our servers when your device reconnects to the internet.
- Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage (pages visited, session length, approximate region). Google Analytics sets its own cookies and identifiers; see Section 8.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not participate in cross-site ad tracking or sell data to advertisers.
8. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate VolleyIQ:
- Supabase — Database hosting, authentication, and real-time data synchronization.
- Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of your payment information. We do not store credit card numbers.
- Resend — Transactional email delivery (account confirmation, password reset, billing notifications).
- Vercel — Application hosting and content delivery.
- Anthropic — AI processing. When you use an AI feature (match coaching overviews, player development plans), the relevant match and player statistics are sent to Anthropic's API to generate the content. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, this data is not used to train their models.
- Google Analytics — Aggregate site usage analytics, as described in Section 7.
- MaxPreps (CBS Sports) — Receives team statistics only when a coach initiates an export, as described in Section 3.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
9. Data Retention
- Active accounts: Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
- Statistics: Athletic statistics are preserved for the lifetime of your account to maintain historical records and recruiting profiles.
- Account deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting support@myvolleyiq.com. Upon deletion, your personal information, profile, and your own statistics will be permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or as described in the next bullet.
- Athlete records survive a coach's deletion: When a coach, club director, or organization deletes their account or a team, each athlete on that team keeps a season-level summary of their own athletic statistics — matches and sets played, and season totals. These are the athlete's own record and are what a college coach relies on during recruiting; losing them because a club folded or a coach closed an account would harm the athlete, not the person deleting. Match-by-match detail, rally data, opponent names, and everything identifying the deleting account are removed. An athlete may delete their retained summary at any time by deleting their own account or contacting support.
- Canceled subscriptions: If you cancel your subscription, your account and data remain accessible in a read-only state. You may resubscribe or request deletion at any time.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information in your account settings.
- Delete your account and associated data by contacting support@myvolleyiq.com. Deleting a coach or director account does not delete other athletes' season summaries, which belong to those athletes and are theirs to remove.
- Export your data in a portable format upon request.
- Withdraw consent for optional data processing (e.g., marketing emails) at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@myvolleyiq.com. We will respond within 30 days.
11. Applicable Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, United States. We comply with applicable Florida data protection statutes and federal laws including COPPA. If you are accessing VolleyIQ from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.
12. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication via Supabase, and access controls that limit data visibility based on user roles. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of VolleyIQ after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
